Union Chapel expanded set
Way back in the prologue for this Pact I mentioned the option of a 25-minute set for the Union Chapel gig. Up until now I've been more inclined to just perform Automaton, but I'm now wondering whether to expand.
If I went for an expanded set don't count on me getting to 25 minutes – I would likely get to 15 or so. So what other tunes could be on the slate? Here's a proposed set:
- Dorian: the first track of Dorian Zoyd's debut EP, Nine Eyes. On the EP the track operates as an intro to the Dorian Zoyd character and it would operate the same for the gig.
- R.O.B.O.T.: the planned lead single for the next Dorian Zoyd release. Its inclusion is at the insistence of concert organiser Claire M. Singer, who has been awaiting the track's completion for years.
- DorianOS: another track from the upcoming Dorian Zoyd release.
- Automaton: the set will conclude with Automaton, whose themes lend it well to finishing a set.
These extra tracks won't require organ, so should be simpler to prepare. However, allowances will have to made for playing the tracks over the Chapel's PA due to the reverb in the hall. Not only are there wide speaker stacks at each side of the stage, there are also two narrower stereo speakers and a centre speaker on the front edge of the stage, so bussing certain tracks to these should improve clarity (though I'll need to test this).
I'll decide on whether to expand the set in October; let's finish Automaton first.
