The year is 2019. One Adam Jansch has just rounded out his first AnnualPact (after a tradition of Pacting), and will be heading into a new decade with renewed focus on his musical creativity.

Well, week 0.5 really – 2025 started on a Wednesday.

A lot of focus in my studio – and specifically on my studio – this week.

Continuing on from last week's equipment update, I got another piece of kit: a Korg opsix SE keyboard. This week I sat down and created something based on one of its patches.

This week's idea saw the first proper beatmaking I've done in quite a while. And there's some backstory to that.

Following a busy week (cough business accounts cough) I don't feel like I gave creativity my full attention this time. There are going to be weeks like this.

Another busy week, another output that probably didn't receive my full attention.

Last week I said a beat built up for that week's creativity would be returned to "in a future week". Well this is a future week, and I returned to that beat.

One word: filth. That is where this creative week ended up, with alarum.

If this week's ditty sounds familiar, that's because I drew off some other inspiration.

A front-loaded creativity week this time, and the first in several weeks where I was starting from a blank slate (rather than building on something from a previous week).

Started blank again, and this time it was a bit too blank. It took me several minutes to decide what material to start with.
