Track component workflow - part 2
Following on from yesterday's look at the unique process export workflow, today I finished the job. Sort of.
You see, when working through the workflow steps I came up against an unexpected problem: distortion when adding gain to my component files. This was happening despite the meters in Studio One not being close to clipping. And just to confirm I loaded a couple of files into Logic Pro X, with the same result.
Stumped I am, especially as it doesn't happen if I raise the volume on my monitor controller. This points at it being an issue in the digital domain. I suppose it could have something to do with bouncing through the summing mixer, but really I don't know.
Anyhow, I still needed files to test for the Python software so I went ahead and exported the files from Studio One (using the brilliant 'Export Stems...' command: a unique process lifesaver!) with as much gain as I could get working. I may have to bounce Xplorer's files from Maschine again anyway, to address the missing sidechain compressor I referred to yesterday.
